Multi Tabling

To maximise their profits, many players decide to multi table. Multi tabling is when a player plays more then one table at the same time. Although many players do this, some cannot find a way to do it successful. Although they may be a great player whilst playing one table, once they start playing multiple tables their play deteriorates and they turn quickly into a losing player. Many players turn to more then one table because the profit they make on just one table isn’t worthwhile them playing but if they were playing 4 or 5 tables they could make significantly more and it would be worthy of their time.

In order to multi table players first need to consider a few things:

Are you making money whilst playing just one table? If not it would be a bad decision to start playing before you master making a profit at just one table. Firstly work out the average loss you are taking on just one table then times it by the number of tables you expect to play and that will be around the average loss you will take on each session. You will normally lose more then that too as your concentration deteriorates and you will find yourself making bad decisions.

Do you have the right resources needed? Many people do not think of this factor, but do you have a monitor big enough to fit enough tables which you would like to play? Is your computer fast enough to run multiple tables simultaneously? All these factors will decrease your profit as if you cannot see everything that is going on at your table or if your computer is so slow and is making you miss your turn to act due to lag; do you really think you are going to make any sort of profit?

Have you got enough concentration to focus on more then one table? If you struggle to keep up with play on one table I would steer clear of opening anymore tables. If at any point whilst multi tabling you start losing your focus I would immediately close a couple of games otherwise you may find yourself losing a bucket load of cash.

Poker software such as Poker Tracker is essential for players who multi table. As you do not have time to analyse every opponent each of your opponents make, having a resource which gives you essential information on how they play is critical in your efforts to become a successful multi-tabler.

So, hopefully you are now clear on what you will need to be able to successfully multi table.
